Sikunir Hill in Sembungan Village, Dieng Plateau

A wonderful tourist spot resides in Wonosobo District, which is called Dieng Plateau. It offers wonderful nature attractions for tourists to conquer, including temples, lakes, mountains, and hills. One of them is located in Sembungan Village, which is Sikunir Hill. It belongs to Kejajar Sub-district and many people come to the site to enjoy its mesmerizing sunrise. They would climb the hill and reach the top of it. The major purpose is to experience a famous phenomenon called the Golden Sunrise of Sikunir! For those who love sightseeing, nothing can beat that place.

The Nuance
On the top of Sikunir Hill, tourists may find a hut or viewing post, which is the best location for sightseeing. During good weather, the views look flawless and majestic. These include mountains, local houses, and lush nature. Not to mention nearby villagers often come to the site and approach tourists in a friendly manner. They even help visitors to explore the site in an efficient manner. Unfortunately, no food vendors are seen there. It is better to carry some snacks and bottled water, so visitors can enjoy some foods while watching those jaw-dropping nature views.

Exploring Sikunir Hill
It is without a doubt the Golden Sunrise of Sikunir is the prime attraction there. Some people even say it is the best spot to enjoy a sunrise, as compared to other locations within Southeast Asia regions. Not only the spot offers stunning sunrise, but it also shows majestic views of mountains covered with haze. In other words, the best time to visit the hill is before dawn. The temperature can be quite cold, though. Therefore, visitors should wear comfortable clothes or a jacket when visiting the hill.

According to the locals, the best time to visit Sikunir Hill is between July and October, when the fog is thin and the temperature is warmer. What about the other months? Well, those times are considered cold and foggy, so the views are not quite satisfying. Not to mention the temperature becomes quite chilly. For those who love photography, it is better to come during summer indeed. At that time, excellent views of nearby mountains are seen clearly. These include Sumbing, Kembang, and Sindoro Mountain! Even the sun looks majestic above those mountains.

Another interesting aspect is its route, featuring challenging landscape and gorgeous nature. The fact is the hill has the height of 2200 meters above the sea level, so it takes much effort and time to reach the top of it. Above all, the route is quite narrow. This explains why cars or other vehicles can only pass through it one at the time. Once they reach the basecamp, which is located in near to Cebong Lake, they need to conduct trekking.
